The concept of the Rock Back compilation series was born in 2011 when disaster hit Japan and Tom Lugo, Patetico Recordings’ label owner who is very passionate about helping causes and non-profit organizations, decided to reach out to the community of artists he has in his network to put together a compilation with profits being donated to relief efforts. The response was overwhelming, over 100 artists all over the world joined to together in the efforts. What was to be a single CD compilation grew to an 8 disc compilation titled “Rock Back for Japan”.

The compilation series hit the top 10 Indie Rock releases on’s chart for several weeks as well as certain volumes holding the number 1 spot.

Since then Patetico Recordings has released the benefit compilations “Rock Back: Animal Rescue”, “Rock back for Ecuador”, “Rock Back for Haiti”

“Whenever Tom Lugo reaches out to his musical family you know it’s for a crucial and essential cause, The Rock Back for Nepal CD compilation is no exception. I’m proud to be part of this relief effort / fund raiser for anyone affected by the recent earthquake disaster in Nepal and if I can help or contribute in some way to aid support and assistance to the many displaced people I will without question. Please support this cause and donate as generously as you can.” -Dean Garcia

“It is a horrible tragedy this destruction of culture and life. I feel lucky that I can use my craft and contribute a song to this fund to help them raise money for relief. If we can all do something to help and give relief for the people of Nepal we should do it now.” – Oliver Ackermann

Milan, Italy’s shoegaze post punk band Dirty Pulp Theater
Last but not least… mark your calendars boys and girls for a labor day weekend shoegaze extravaganza of epic proportions happening May 26-30 in Chicago. The Lake EFX Fest is the name of the festival and we have been working arduously to bring you some of the best shoegaze acts from around the globe. Some VERY HUGE surprises… just wait and see. More news to follow in the next couple of weeks.

Dirty Pulp Theatre is a band that was formed in Milan, Italy as an idea of Mirko (guitar) and Silvio (drums). They soon added Matteo (bass), and after many previous singers, Giulia (vocals). The group started by opening for UK Decay, a historic post-punk band from the golden years of the genre, in Milan. The post-punk influences are still very evident in the band’s musical style. Soon after, the band left Italy for five dates in Britain; when they returned, their sound had radically changed, almost eliminating the raw post-punk guitar to a much cleaner sound that brings to mind the shoegaze sounds of Cranes, Medicine, and My Bloody Valentine. They released their first EP ‘’Who Killed Ian Curtis’’ and a year after, Matteo left the band.

In September 2010 the band began working on their first album, Excessive Noise , and after a lot of lives always with different bassists, Alberto J. comes as a permanent member in the band.

The songs of this new album are much more experimental and they start to use prepared guitars with noise and new psychedelic effects.

The DPT draw inspiration from everything around them in their life, from their grey and cold city of Milan, to the music of The Velvet Underground and Sonic Youth.

Their new record for 2011 will be released on Patetico Recordings.
