The concept of the Rock Back compilation series was born in 2011 when disaster hit Japan and Tom Lugo, Patetico Recordings’ label owner who is very passionate about helping causes and non-profit organizations, decided to reach out to the community of artists he has in his network to put together a compilation with profits being donated to relief efforts. The response was overwhelming, over 100 artists all over the world joined to together in the efforts. What was to be a single CD compilation grew to an 8 disc compilation titled “Rock Back for Japan”.

The compilation series hit the top 10 Indie Rock releases on Amazon.com’s chart for several weeks as well as certain volumes holding the number 1 spot.

Since then Patetico Recordings has released the benefit compilations “Rock Back: Animal Rescue”, “Rock back for Ecuador”, “Rock Back for Haiti”

“Whenever Tom Lugo reaches out to his musical family you know it’s for a crucial and essential cause, The Rock Back for Nepal CD compilation is no exception. I’m proud to be part of this relief effort / fund raiser for anyone affected by the recent earthquake disaster in Nepal and if I can help or contribute in some way to aid support and assistance to the many displaced people I will without question. Please support this cause and donate as generously as you can.” -Dean Garcia

“It is a horrible tragedy this destruction of culture and life. I feel lucky that I can use my craft and contribute a song to this fund to help them raise money for relief. If we can all do something to help and give relief for the people of Nepal we should do it now.” – Oliver Ackermann

Stellarscope’s latest release, ‘Standing In The Shadow Of Your Ghost’, is infused with what could easily be found in your early 80’s alternative scene with bands like The Sisters of Mercy, Joy Division, Bauhaus and The Jesus and Mary Chain. They’ve masterfully taken bits and pieces from the Post Punk era and brought them forward into today’s realm…..

Many thanks Tom Lugo and Stellarscope for taking the time for Torched Magazine!

Rough translation:

“The Philadelphia Boys celebrate on their album an exciting and above all working mixture. They mix the sweeping guitar width of the shoegaze with angular post-punk beats and interweave them temporarily with elements from the indie and alternative rock. The muted, melancholic singing does the rest to support the shoegaze effect. In the end, perhaps, a little bit of grasping parts are missing, which stick in the ear and do the right thing; who does not need something like that, can enjoy an almost unconventional, atmospheric album.”

Thank you driX and Exystence Music Blog for the review “Pain, loss, and fear have never been so beautiful as captured musically by Philly indie rockers Stellarscope. If you love albums by Joy Division and The Cure(in the early 80s) then you will love the mood of Standing in the Shadow of your Ghost.” Read the full review here http://exystence.net/blog/2017/08/06/stellarscope-standing-in-the-shadow-of-your-ghost-2017/

51 Bands, from all around the world, have joined their hearts & music together, to pay tribute to one of the most passionate music enthusiasts that the shoegaze community has ever known. This compilation, affectionately titled “For The Love of Chris Tressler”, is dedicated to the memory of this amazing man.

Chris Tressler was truly in a league of his own. He had a zeal for music that seemed almost as vital to him as the air in his lungs and the beat of his heart. His pursuit of new music, and desire to share that music with the world around him, was unparalleled. Chris was such a pillar of support for the bands that he loved! The shoegaze/dreampop community has definitely felt the loss of his selfless, devoted and positive presence.

Due to the fact that we want this music, and the memory of Chris, to reach as many people as possible, we have decided to make this comp available as a free download on bandcamp.

For any that would like to make a monetary donation, in memory of Chris, here is wonderful organization that encourages the creation of music & “provides musical instruments to underserved children, with a hunger to play”. This link allows us to make “dedication donations”, in honor of Chris: hungryformusic.org/make-a-dedication-donation/

Jonathan Sellers and Krissy VanderWoude would like to thank everyone who has been a part of this comp & helped us bring this vision to life.

Our deepest & most heartfelt sympathy extended to Chris Tressler’s family and friends. We hope that you will find comfort in knowing how loved he was. May his memory live on through this beautiful music!

Due to the overwhelming support, we may or may not have enough download credits to support free download through Bandcamp’s site. However, we have uploaded the entire comp onto this MediaFire link:

Thank you The Ark of Music for the kind words!!! “Having listened to countless acts as a music critic, I can safely announce that a tasteful amount of contrast is always key to producing a great body of work. That said, abstract in its composition—yet intentional in its mood and message—veteran indie-rockers Stellarscope have created that contrast masterfully in Standing In The Shadow Of Your Ghost. The group is to be commended for finding the courage to continually evolve and expand as artists.
